Pediatric dentistry

Pediatric dentistry

Our staff and dentists are trained in pediatric behavior management and use various techniques like tell-show-do to make the dental experience as enjoyable as possible. If needed, we are also trained in conducting conscious sedation using nitrous oxide (i.e. laughing gas) to minimize the child’s anxiety for an effortless and pleasant exam.
We appreciate you entrusting us with your child’s oral health. We take that responsibility seriously and will work hard to ensure that your little angels grow up with the healthiest and happiest of smiles!

Training

Dr. Melika Modabber (DMD) completed her dental degree at the University of Louisville. She then pursued a residency at the Ohio State University specializing in complex medical cases. It was there that she also realized her strong passion for providing care for pediatric patients. She then completed a pediatric dental fellowship at the renowned Ohio State University. She has since provided state-of-the art dental care, including concious sedation, for both adults and children at multiple reputable hospitals including Wexner medical centre, James Cancer Hospitals, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and is currently licensed to practice in both Canada and the United States.

Children’s primary teeth erupt at approximately 6 months of age. At that age we offer routine examinations of infants in the comfort of their parent’s lap. This minimizes the child’s anxiety and also enables the parents to be a proactive partner in the child’s evolving oral health. Through diet counseling and discussions pertaining to oral hygiene, we put your mind at ease that your child is being well cared for. For first time parents, we understand that there may be many questions regarding diet and oral health, and we are here to answer all of your questions.

As your child’s developmental stage enables them to sit in the dental chair, we begin more formal assessments of their oral health and cavity screening. Early detection is key! Early caries are easily diagnosed and can be treated non-invasively. The various treatments options often depend on the child’s age, overall oral hygiene, depth of cavity, and whether the patient still has primary (baby) teeth and the expected time before their exfoliation.
We appreciate you entrusting us with your child’s oral health, we take that responsibility seriously and will work to ensure that your little angels grow up with the healthiest and happiest of smiles!
